Supporting RNG Through Every Stage

Why MRR

MRR supports RNG projects at every stage, from system design and odorizer installation through commissioning and ongoing operational support. From landfill gas sites to agricultural and wastewater biodigesters, we have partnered with some of North America’s largest waste management companies to bring RNG facilities online safely, efficiently, and to the odorization requirements each site's jurisdiction and interconnect agreement call for.

Challenges

1

Knowing When, Where, and How to Odorize

Odorization requirements for RNG are not always obvious, and the market is full of conflicting advice. Gas injected into a distribution network clearly must be odorized, but projects trucking CNG, fueling vehicles, or supplying a single customer often assume odorization does not apply to them. In practice, any gas leaving the site on public roads should be detectable. MRR helps producers and site owners cut through the ambiguity and get odorization right the first time.

How We Help

Odorization Program Consulting

Site-by-site guidance on where odorization is required, recommended, or prudent, based on how your gas moves.

Virtual Pipeline & CNG Odorization

Odorization solutions for trailered CNG and virtual pipeline operations, so gas on the road is safe and readily detectable.

System Selection & Design

Matching the right injection technology to your flow, site, and application, from LVO units to bypass odorizers.

Analytical Verification

Detectability testing that documents your gas meets recognized odorization standards.

2

Managing Low and Intermittent Gas Flow

Landfill gas and digester feedstocks rarely produce steady volumes. Production shifts with seasons, feedstock, and upgrading equipment, and low or intermittent flow makes consistent odorant injection difficult, increasing the risk of under- or over-odorization.

How We Help

MRR RNG Odorization Skids

Low volume odorization skids purpose-built for the small and variable flows typical of landfill gas and digester projects.

Injection Rate Optimization

Dosage calculations and system calibration matched to actual production, so odorant injection stays proportional as flows swing with seasons and feedstock.

Watchtower™ Remote Monitoring

Remote tank level and system monitoring, so lightly staffed sites schedule refills against actual consumption.

3

Odorization at the Point of Custody Transfer

Every RNG project has a moment where gas legally changes hands, from producer or site owner to the receiving utility. Responsibility for meeting those requirements must be clearly established before gas flows. MRR works with producers, site owners, and utilities to define that responsibility and verify the gas is reliably detectable.

How We Help

Audits & Regulatory Support

Expert evaluation of odorization programs and best-practice guidance.

Third-Party Verification

Independent analytical confirmation that gas is reliably detectable at and beyond the point of custody transfer.

Interconnect Compliance

Odorization systems designed and validated to the receiving utility’s specifications, so gas is accepted at the interconnect with minimal risk of dispute.

Multi-Party Coordination

One odorization partner working across producer, site owner, and utility, so responsibility is defined and documented before commissioning.

4

Operating Without In-House Odorization Expertise

Many RNG facilities are run by teams whose expertise is waste, agriculture, or wastewater, not gas operations. Without dedicated odorization staff, maintenance gets deferred, odorant handling carries risk, and compliance depends on whoever is on site that day. MRR acts as the odorization department for operators who do not have one.

How We Help

Odorant Delivery

As a Chevron Phillips odorant distributor, MRR delivers odorant to RNG sites in the quantities they actually use, with the product fully contained at every transfer.

Operator & Technician Training

Hands-on training covering all aspects of odorization, from routine operation to safe odorant handling.

Planned Maintenance & Support

Scheduled inspection, calibration, and service that keeps systems accurate without in-house specialists.

Emergency Response & Spill Kits

Equipping crews with the tools and procedures needed to respond safely.

MRR Key Services for Renewable Natural Gas Clients

Compliance & Validation

From MAV™ analytical validation to risk assessments and audit-ready records, MRR gives operators a data-driven, defensible view of odorization performance, catching odor fade risks and compliance gaps before they become incidents.

Odorant Delivery & Transfer

As a Chevron Phillips odorant distributor, MRR delivers, transfers, and relocates odorant with the product fully contained at every step. Safety-first procedures minimize odor, protect personnel, and keep your operational sites clean.

Odorization Buildings and Station Design

For larger installations, MRR designs permanent odorization facilities housed within dedicated buildings or station infrastructure, supporting long-term utility operations with safe access for maintenance, monitoring, and equipment servicing.

Odorization Skid Design and Fabrication

Designed and fabricated by MRR, odorization skid systems may incorporate specialized technologies such as bypass odorizers to improve operational flexibility, reduce refill frequency, and maintain consistent odorization performance over time.

Preventative Maintenance

Our team inspects and services odorant injection equipment, performs system calibration to ensure accurate odorant dosing, and maintains critical odorization infrastructure to support reliable, long-term system performance in the field.

System Design & Installation

Fully engineered, PE-stamped odorization packages: designed, fabricated, and installed by MRR, from CSA and CRN certified bypass odorizers to complete stations. Optional orbital welding reduces field joints and potential leak points.
